I just got done playing a 90 player Sit n Go on Full Tilt and I felt compelled to write about a player who was playing at my table for about the latter 1/2 of the tournament. If you have played much online poker at all, you have probably seen this type of player, or at least a variation of him; I call him the "hyper-aggressive" player.
These guys can be particularly frustrating to play against because they play everything. They are literally in every hand and they will bet EVERY hand post flop, regardless of their hole cards. The problem with this is, for those of you who possess an understanding of the game, is that you can take some REALLY bad beats from these guys.
They are either out of the tournament quickly or they build up a big stack by just dumb luck.(or sheer skill, I suppose if you asked them!) This example had a big stack due to the dumb luck strategy. I watched him put out several players with hands like 9-2 off suit and K-3 off suit. If you have never seen one of these guys in action, it is hard to believe, but they really will play any two cards.
I also watched him call all-ins post flop with K-3 and an Ace on the board! Obviously he lost these confrontations, but he would simply go all in the next hand and collect the blinds and whatever else happened to be bet.
I have a strategy on how to play these guys that I will employ every time. First, make a note about them, just in case they end up on another table and you end up playing against them later. Second, simply trap them POST flop.
Don't try to get all you chips in pre-flop. That is what these guys want. Wait until you have good cards and then slam him hard with a big bet (or all-in) IF you hit the flop. By "hit the flop" I mean at least middle pair, or certainly high pair. I may even go all-in with a good drawing hand, like a flush draw with middle or low pair because I know that a moron like this guy will call me with nothing.
Players like this tend to be call stations, they play too many hands, so they tend to draw out on you post flop if they don't hit on the flop. This is good, you can simply string them along.

Warning, do not go all-in post flop when you hit a monster. This is about the only thing that will scare these guys away. No, you need to slow play them along with 1/3-1/2 pot sized bets. This way they will keep drawing trying to hit their hand. Also, DO NOT BLUFF these players. You never know when they hit the flop. Because they play such a wide variety of stupid starting hands, you will have a tough time reading whether or not the flop helped them out. So, don't worry about it. Just wait until it helps YOU out and bet from there.
Again, check your temper and your ego at the door here. You can still lose some hands that will make you want to chuck your computer right out the window, but as long as you don't start playing as loose as he is, the odds will catch up to him eventually. Personally, I love playing against these guys because all you have to do is wait until your hand is made post flop. Then it is just a matter of pushing in some big bets while Mr. Loosey-Goosey calls you, and pretty soon your stack is big and his is whittled down to nothing. If you are really lucky, he may double up again and you can take his chips from him more than once! For more tips laid out in an easy to read ebook, please click here.
