There are three main kinds of Texas Holdem online poker: Limit, No-limit and Pot-Limit.  The basic strategy of Limit poker must be learned.  The rules are easy to learn but the strategies for winning are endless. So if you want to join an online poker game learn the strategies.  You can learn the rules from online poker sites and the strategies from a few top sites and forums.  The odds of winning the round in online poker games can be worked out mathematically. 

Learn the basic betting strategies.  What to do on the pre-flop bet? Are your cards good enough to play with?  There are guidelines to what constitutes a good pre-flop hand that is worthwhile playing and when not to play. 

When you are dealt the flop you will have to decide what to do next.  Do you play or fold?  Good newbie strategy is to fold if you’ve been dealt bad cards and play aggressively when you’ve got a good hand. 

Big hands and drawing hands are two hands in Texas Holdem poker that often win the pot. Big hands are hands already containing winning cards and drawing hands are hands that could get better if the flop, turn and river produce the right cards. Learn to recognize what constitutes a drawing hand and a big hand and learn the strategies for each.  A big hand strategy is to go on the offensive and raise aggressively to force people out.   Whereas a drawing hand strategy would call for minimum bets to see what the flop, turn and river cards produce.

Once you’ve learned a few basic strategies of an online poker game put them into practice when you are playing.  Take note of when and how you win.
